Washington DC

Wow is Washington DC a large place to visit. We stayed in a RV park outside DC called Cherryhill. Great RV park which I would recommend to anyone wanting to be close to DC. From the park we would take a short bus ride to the Metro Tram station where you can take a tram to almost any place in DC. We spent four days in DC and didn't even scratch the surface. A lot of walking. We went to a lot of places as you will see looking through the pictures.

Yes we did see the White house, Lincoln Monument, Capital building and Washington monument just to name a few. You will notice some pictures taken in front of tha Lincoln Monument of the reflection pond or lack of it. It was leaking so they are redoing it. Notice the men in the picture of the Washington monument working checking cracks. There were 3 men that we saw hanging from ropes.

What I enjoyed most was visiting the Capital. We took a tour. The guide only had 5 people in her group and we were the only Americans. Groups are normally 20 or more. When our tour was over our guide asked us what we wanted to do next. I told her I wanted to find the Dirkson building to try and visit one of our Tennessee Senators office. She said she would escort us and took us behind the scenes where most tourist don't get to go and we took a small tram used by Senators and other officials to travel from place to place. When we got to the Dirkson building, we went to the office of Senator Corker. He was having lunch with another Senator so we didn't see him, but we did talk to the staff. Very friendly staff. They offered us Passes to get into the Senate or House gallery. We were escorted to the Capital building again on the tram by an aid and turned over to security. After that we were given clearance to proceed to the Senate gallery. The Gallery overlooks the Senate floor. A few minutes later by luck our Senator walked out and spoke of trade with China. We then left to continue on seeing DC.

We did a lot so look at the pictures and you will get an Idea of everything we saw. Too much to mention. We would go back anytime
